The Garret T04 is mounted above the acessory case. Here there are 2 advantages; 1) The oil can drain by gravity back to the sump 2) it can be fared into the turtledeck and cowl.
Also, if one is to minimise cowl bumps and bulges (which add greatly to aerodynamic drag) this is the only place to put it.
Placing the turbo high allows it to be fared into the turtledeck
The exhausts come up and over, then meet, and go aft.
This is a similar design to the Gyroflug Speed Canard, a German clone of the Vari-Ez, produced and certified in the 1980s.
